This area starts at the 3 private boatsheds and ends at Colpin Avenue. It includes Durham Point and the promontory at Forest Street where Ballarat Grammar and Ballarat High School have their boatsheds. Across Wendouree Parade at the Forest Street roundabout is the historic Jubilee Church.
The transformation of the Durham Point promontory from a swampy quagmire began in 1913. In 1996 the roadway was upgraded and in 2000 a boat ramp was constructed. Future plans include the construction here of a third ferry terminal.
The Boatsheds
Large and small, old and new, attractive and unattractive, the boatshed very much contribute to the character of the Lake. Many have heritage value in their authentic detailing. They are numbered anticlockwise from the three small boatsheds near Barrett Avenue to the east of Durham Point, so these are Nos. 1, 2 and 3.

From the vicinity of Colpin Avenue it is possible to see both Mt Warrenheip and Mt Buninyong in the distance. In the foreground is one of islands used as a nesting place by the Australian White Ibis.
