Olympic Precinct This area is at the end of the 2000m rowing course. Here you can see tributes to Ballarat's Olympic representatives and all athletes who competed on Lake Wendouree during the 1956 Olympic Games.
In 2001 the rowing course was widened to eight lanes and extended at the start and finish. New starting and judging towers were constructed and an albano buoying system was installed. It is an excellent venue for the Victorian State Rowing Championships and the World Masters Games rowing events which will be held at Lake Wendouree 2002.
The Olympic Rings
The water-lily lagoon, water-lilies and the path to The Spit where students gather for the annual Head of the Lake in March.
In 2000 the sediment trap (water-lily lagoon) was dredged, the outflow system was cleared of tree roots and suckers and a new access ramp was built for easier routine maintenance.
