Artist, designer and master craftsman - these three words best describe the talents of John McLennan  who is the proprietor of McLennan Furniture.

His talents span many years and is reflected in his individual style and high standard of finish to every piece.

John McLennan established Makers on Mair Ballarat in 1996 as a showcase for his own furniture as well as other artist/crafts people’s work. John went on to form McLennan Furniture in 2006. The basic philosophy behind the business is to promote excellence in all areas - design, craftsmanship and materials as well as service and presentation.

John McLennan started in 1972 and moved his workshop to Ballarat in 1992 and wanted to further the innovative and successful flair of his Melbourne gallery, "The Woodwrights", which he closed at this time. McLennan Furniture has already created quite an impact both in Ballarat, throughout Australia and internationally..

Furniture can be purchased directly from the floor of the showroom or new pieces can be commissioned. John is available for design consultations by appointment. A browse through the photographs in the gallery will indicate the wide range of styles John McLennan’s work encompasses – reflecting his appreciation of the particular environments into which his works will be placed, as well as the tastes and requirements of individual clients.

Upon entering his workshop at McLennan Furniture, your sense of smell is awakened by the beautiful aroma of polished furniture and your eyes bedazzled by the stunning display of creative design and craftsmanship. We also welcome you to experience the furniture through your sense of touch.
