North Britain Hotel -
History
The North Britain Hotel was
established in 1862. Originally it operated as a hotel and fancy
goods store. The Publican was a burly bloke who never swore and
treated his customers with a polite manner. His wife would give free
water to travellers and their horses. Folk lined up to taste the
beer and occasionally there would be a rush to the bar when last
drinks were called at 6 o’clock.
Today it operates as a hotel and restaurant,
offers good old fashioned food and very personal service. The
Publican is still a burly bloke, the water is still free and the
goods offered are still very fancy. The prize fighter is blue and
resides in the backyard, the locals are friendly, the beer is crisp
and cold and the wine flows.
As time goes on people come and go, ideas
change and history is made or made up! But it would seem that the
good old fashioned things always stay the same.
Good food, Good times, the North Britain, a small hotel.
