Welcome to the Golden City Paddle Steamer Museum Society Inc. WebsiteIn 1987 the Golden City Paddle Steamer was purchased and returned to Ballarat by the Apex Club of Ballarat. The Golden City Paddle Steamer Museum Society Inc. was formed in 1988 as a consequence of a public meeting convened by the Apex Club of Ballarat. The Society is a community based, non-profit organization which through the support of volunteers and a wide range of corporate sponsors and community groups, was able to resort the Golden City Paddle Steamer to operational conditions. [The Golden City is currently undergoing extensive restoration. It is expected to again be in service by early 2004]. The Society has purchased and renovated Gill's Boatshed, established the Lake Wendouree Museum and facilitated the development of the Boatshed Restaurant which will underwrite the Society's future viability. The Museum is now shared with the Ballarat Sports Museum and Hall of Fame. You can find out more about them by viewing their website at www.ballaratsports.com. |
