Skipton is a small rural centre of approximately 500 people
in the Western District of Victoria, Australia. The town is situated
on the Glenelg Highway approximately 165 kilometres west of
Melbourne or 55 kilometres away from the centre of Ballarat. It is
close to the West Coast of Victoria, The Grampian National Parks,
and The Pyrenees Wine Districts. In driving time: Skipton is one
hours drive to the Grampians, one and a half hours to the Great Ocean Road and
Port Campbell, and one hour to Ballarat and Sovereign Hill.
The Ballarat to Skipton Rail Trail - regarded
as a significant conservation, heritage and tourism asset for the
region that provides a fantastic setting to support a host of
recreation pursuits including horse riding, cycling, bush walking
